課程概述

The course introduces ICT-based (Information and Communication Technology) foreign language learning strategies that build up the students’ own personal ELearning framework (i.e., awareness of self, language learning processes and structures, linguistic knowledge, and communication skills), a vital element of second/foreign language learning, which allows students to define, manage and self-regulate their learning continuously, while equipping them with both General and Specialized knowledge through topics like Food, Movies, Astronomy, Technology, Architecture, Bails, etc. This course also provides students an opportunity to shift from test-oriented learning to task-based learning through exposure to academic research skills such as analytical and critical thinking within ELearning.

課程目標
 Listening Comprehension: OLCP (2 levels/week)
 Reading Comprehension ORCP
 Learning Modelling
 GEPT
 Writing (3 outlines)

IMPT:
Students who submit late homework will automatically receive a failing score. Make-up tests/presentations may ONLY be arranged under unavoidable circumstances.
課程要求
20% ELearning (Listening/Reading Comprehension) OEP
Using one of the following basic e-learning programs, students engage in individual online learning:

1. http://140.112.185.55/site/login (ELearning for Listening and Reading Comprehension)**
2. http://140.112.185.97/efreeway/interactive.php (Clarity/ Issues in English)
3. http://140.112.185.97/efreeway/language.php
4. http://www.efl.net/articles-htm/ (listening)
5. http://140.112.185.97/efreeway/language.php (reading)

 **Use ONLY Firefox/Chrome to access the program (not Explorer).
 Use ONLY your STUDENT NUMBER to register.

The students complete the tasks in their chosen online programs. The Best Scores for listening (or reading) comprehension are calculated on 4/2, 5/7, 6/4.

30% Phase Examination
On three dates (4/9, 5/14, 6/18), students sit in a Proficiency Test.

30% Writing Tasks

Students prepare an outline with three levels of designated readings.

10% Proficiency Test (GEPT) Online Listening/Reading Test
On 6/11, students sit in a Proficiency Test
Students sit in an Online Listening Test (e.g. GEPT) which lasts approximately 50mins.

10% Attendance
Students need to attend the class regularly. An absence due to illness or death of a family member may be accepted as valid reason for a leave. However, the students must go to the teachers and request make-up work immediately upon their return.
Students who are absent without notice and valid reason will receive deduction in the attendance score.
The class attendance is composed of nine (9) days which is used for the calculation of student's attendance grade. The calculation is written below:
grade = (student's present/ 9)*50+50

Extra Tasks
Project: Learn & Show a Learning Pattern
In pairs/groups, students choose a topic for learning/research from TED-ED Talk https://ed.ted.com/ and draft and/or present a format (or pattern) of learning with specific needs (e.g. hearing/ listening disability, slow learners).
